Women Writers Celebrating Their Stories Mural in Hartford, CT

The Story

About This Mural

Micaela Levesque's mural celebrates influential women across five detailed portrait panels set against a vibrant gradient background that shifts from cool blues and greens to warm yellows and oranges. Each figure is rendered with careful attention to individual features and personal style, from glasses and jewelry to distinctive clothing, while colorful flowers in purples, pinks, and yellows anchor the composition at the base. One portrait prominently displays an open book inscribed with "Write Your Own Story," a message that ties the work to themes of agency and self-determination among the women depicted.
